What is Fullerene?
Fullerenes (primarily C60 and C70) represent a distinct class of all-carbon molecules characterized by their closed-cage structures composed of pentagonal and hexagonal rings. As the third crystalline form of carbon—following diamond and graphite—Fullerenes possess unique physical and chemical identities.
Beyond pure carbon cages, Fullerenes can encapsulate other atoms to form Endohedral Fullerenes, or link with external functional groups to create specialized derivatives.
